After a cold and drawn-out winter battling the worst of the coronavirus pandemic, it was time to deliver a little sunshine to the hardworking nurses, doctors and hospital staff at BJC and MoBap. Throughout the month of February, our Art of Heart team made meal and artwork deliveries to various shifts within the Covid and ICU units. We were truly blown away by the touching artwork contributions from students across the St. Louis area (Holy Spirit Catholic School, Blevins Elementary and Circa kiddos – among many others!) and it was evident that it touched the nurses, as well.
February’s event would not have been possible without the generous support of our co-sponsors Continental Title Company, the Goldberg Esson Mortgage Team, Pillar To Post – The Scott Frederick Team, and Achosa Home Warranty, LLC. We consider these businesses to be outstanding colleagues – but more importantly friends – and we want to thank them again for their financial contribution to the meal deliveries. Having the opportunity to support some of our favorite local restaurants in the process made this month’s outreach all the more sweet. (Herbie’s, Guerilla Street Food, Bailey’s, Pharaoh’s Donuts, SweetArt and Sista’s Pop – you all knocked it out of the park, per usual!).
As our group reflected on February’s event, we kept circling back to the thought that this was our most successful Art of Heart outreach yet. Being able to weave together so many integral pillars of our community – nurses, restaurant owners, teachers and their students – was the fulfillment of everything we hoped to accomplish when we established the Art of Heart in 2018. Despite the sub-zero temperatures, we truly felt the warming effect of Operation Sunshine.
